Bossidy, Dr. John Collins. “Boston Toast.”

The toast is first delivered at a Holy Cross College Midwinter Alumni Dinner in Boston. Bossidy, who maintains an office at 419 Boylston Street, intones, “And this is dear old Boston, / The home of the bean and the cod, / Where the Lowells talk only to the Cabots, / And the Cabots talk only to God.” The toast is an updated version of one delivered at a 1905 Harvard reunion that went, “Here’s to old Massachusetts, the home of the sacred cod, where the Adameses vote for Douglas, and the Cabots walk with God.”
